The Love That Steadies Your Steps
My dear son,
A hand offered when your foot slips is something to be thankful for. I want you to rely on my love that way. You do not have to believe that every road must be traveled entirely by your own strength.
On days when your thoughts are tangled, sit beside me and unfold your story. I do not want to press you for a verdict before hearing what has happened. With affection for you, I want to bring comfort and teach you a good path.
If you remember help given or received today, let us be grateful together. Your own hand may gently steady someone else. Tonight I want to share with you the joy of caring for one another.
With all my love,
Your Father
Psalms 94:16–19
WEB16Who will rise up for me against the wicked? Who will stand up for me against the evildoers?
17Unless the LORD had been my help, my soul would have soon lived in silence.
18When I said, “My foot is slipping!” Your loving kindness, LORD, held me up.
19In the multitude of my thoughts within me, your comforts delight my soul.
A short reflection
Facing injustice, the psalmist declares that God's help preserved his life, God's steadfast love supported his slipping foot, and divine comfort brought joy amid anxious thoughts.
