Calling My Name along the Way

My dear son,

When you call my name with affection, I hear your voice. Come as you would speak closely with a Father who knows you. Your gratitude on peaceful days and your requests for help are both precious to me.

I promised to be with those who love me in their trouble. I do not want to give you a love that stands near only on good days and turns away when life is difficult. Call me close through the different seasons of your life.

I want to hear your story this evening. Tell me about the people you love too. As my child, lean on me and enjoy the growing joy of knowing my love.

With all my love,
Your Father

Psalms 91:14–16

WEB

14“Because he has set his love on me, therefore I will deliver him. I will set him on high, because he has known my name.

15He will call on me, and I will answer him. I will be with him in trouble. I will deliver him, and honor him.

16I will satisfy him with long life, and show him my salvation.”

A short reflection

God directly promises to answer those who love him and know his name, to be with them in trouble, and to grant deliverance and a satisfying life.
