A Place Where Lonely Prayers Are Heard

My dear son,

Sometimes a person's circumstances cannot be explained in a single sentence. You can take your time with me. Broken sentences and repeated thoughts do not make your heart a burden to me. Come as you are and be at ease.

If your strength is failing and even those close to you do not understand, tell me. You have a Father who wants to hear even your sighs. My regard for you does not depend on your ability to explain everything completely.

If you have joy to share today, let us smile together. If you need help, let us attend to it. May patient listening grow in you too. Your Father considers your story worth hearing.

With all my love,
Your Father

Psalms 38:9–11

WEB

9Lord, all my desire is before you. My groaning is not hidden from you.

10My heart throbs. My strength fails me. As for the light of my eyes, it has also left me.

11My lovers and my friends stand aloof from my plague. My kinsmen stand far away.

A short reflection

The psalmist lays his longing before God, describing fading strength and sight, along with the loneliness of loved ones and companions keeping their distance.
