Walking with Your Eyes on Jesus
My dear son,
As you travel the road of faith, look to Jesus ahead of you. He looked beyond the cross to the joy before him and loved to the end. The beginning and completion of your faith rest with him.
You can lay before me the sin that entangles your feet and the burdens you need not keep carrying. Do not lose sight of your own path by watching only those who seem faster. Let us continue with patience.
Rest tonight for the steps still ahead. Like the many who walked by faith before you, you can depend on me. You do not have to imagine finishing this journey by your own strength. Lean on me.
With all my love,
Your Father
Hebrews 12:1–3
WEB1Therefore let’s also, seeing we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, lay aside every weight and the sin which so easily entangles us, and let’s run with perseverance the race that is set before us,
2looking to Jesus, the author and perfecter of faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising its shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.
3For consider him who has endured such contradiction of sinners against himself, that you don’t grow weary, fainting in your souls.
A short reflection
Hebrews urges believers to lay aside burdens and sin, run with endurance while looking to Jesus, and resist discouragement.
