Learning Kindness Tonight

My dear son,

I want your life with other people to include warm and gracious words. When anger rises, you do not have to keep holding it until it becomes language that treats another person carelessly or cruelly.

Let the love with which I have forgiven you in Christ make its home in your heart. Learn the kindness that considers a person's circumstances instead of seeing only their faults. I will tend your own heart gently as you learn.

If something needs to be resolved, ask me for courage to speak calmly and honestly. Tonight, instead of rehearsing hurtful words, you can tell me what is in your heart. I am listening to you.

With all my love,
Your Father

Ephesians 4:31–32

WEB

31Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, outcry, and slander be put away from you, with all malice.

32And be kind to one another, tender hearted, forgiving each other, just as God also in Christ forgave you.

A short reflection

Paul urges believers to put away bitterness, anger, and slander, treating one another kindly and forgiving as God has forgiven them in Christ.
