A Small Song at Midnight
My dear son,
I would like to hear the song of praise you sing quietly at night. Your voice does not have to be powerful or polished. Put today's gratitude and requests into a song, and let your Father hear it.
As prayer and praise reached me through the closed doors of a prison, you can call to me from where you are. Our conversation can begin before your circumstances improve. Share your heart as you look toward my saving help.
Sing your happiness on joyful days and speak honestly through your song on frustrating ones. Your sincerity is precious to the Father who stays with you. Let a little song of love accompany the close of today.
With all my love,
Your Father
Acts 16:25–26
WEB25But about midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the prisoners were listening to them.
26Suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken; and immediately all the doors were opened, and everyone’s bonds were loosened.
A short reflection
As Paul and Silas pray and sing at midnight in the Philippian jail, an earthquake opens the doors and loosens the prisoners' bonds.
