In Your Father's Compassion

My dear son,

Tonight I treasure the simple fact that you are my child. I know the body and heart of the person I formed from dust. That is why I want you to hear tenderness and compassion when I call your name.

Do not shrink back from me because there are things you cannot do. As a parent holds a child close, I cherish and care for you. I am glad you can look to me and ask for help.

You need not bring more accomplishments or a stronger appearance tonight. Stay beside me just as you are. Your Father knows your limits and loves you dearly. Give your body and mind permission to rest.

With all my love,
Your Father

Psalms 103:13–14

WEB

13Like a father has compassion on his children, so the LORD has compassion on those who fear him.

14For he knows how we are made. He remembers that we are dust.

A short reflection

God knows human frailty and has compassion on those who revere him, as a father has compassion on his children.
