Gratitude for the Life You Have

My dear son,

Your life is a story far older and more precious than what you accomplished today. As your Father, I cherish you for your very being. Tonight, take your time sharing some of that story with me.

Whether you have known me since childhood or are just beginning to know me, I am glad you can place your hope in me now. My love for the life I care for matters at every stage of your years.

Tell me a treasured memory, and share a difficult one if you wish. You need not explain your whole past favorably. Trust me with the time still ahead, and rest peacefully tonight.

With all my love,
Your Father

Psalms 71:5–6

5For you are my hope, Lord GOD, my confidence from my youth.

6I have relied on you from the womb. You are he who took me out of my mother’s womb. I will always praise you.

A short reflection
