Close to the Brokenhearted
My dear son,
When you come to me tonight, you do not have to arrange your feelings into something presentable. Tell me about your joy as joy and your sorrow as sorrow. Whatever is in your heart, I am close to you.
If your heart has been hurt, do not drift away pretending you are fine. I do not turn away from a broken heart. When words are hard to find, you can sit quietly beside me. I will stay.
If this is a peaceful night, enjoy that peace with me. If it is a painful one, lean on me and rest. Let these words stay with you: your loving Father is near.
