Make Room for Giving in Advance

My dear son,

Let your desire to help someone become part of today's planning. Paul asked believers to prepare steadily, each according to their income, for fellow believers in need. Patient preparation can carry as much care as a sudden large gift.

Consider your circumstances and choose a share you can offer. You do not need to strain yourself to look generous. Finding a trustworthy way for the help to reach those who need it is also part of love's responsibility.

This morning, consider the money or time you can share. A small beginning is welcome. I delight when care for neighbors becomes a steady part of life, beyond a passing moment of inspiration.

With all my love,
Your Father

1Now concerning the collection for the saints: as I commanded the assemblies of Galatia, you do likewise.

2On the first day of every week, let each one of you save as he may prosper, that no collections are made when I come.

3When I arrive, I will send whoever you approve with letters to carry your gracious gift to Jerusalem.

A short reflection

Paul directs believers to prepare a collection for Jerusalem according to their income and send it through people approved by the church.
