Learning Worth Holding On To
My dear son,
When you encounter good wisdom, cherish it and keep it close. Words you return to and follow in life's moments can help you far more than something heard once and tucked away unused.
Check before making a judgment, ask about what you do not know, and turn your feet from a mistaken path. Wisdom lives in those small choices. I want you to love learning and use it to care well for your life.
You need not begin today already skilled in everything. Practice one good teaching you know. Ask me for the strength you need. I will teach you gently as you love wisdom and keep it within your grasp.
With all my love,
Your Father
Proverbs 4:5–6
WEB5Get wisdom. Get understanding. Don’t forget, and don’t deviate from the words of my mouth.
6Don’t forsake her, and she will preserve you. Love her, and she will keep you.
A short reflection
The father in Proverbs urges gaining wisdom and understanding, remembering his words, and loving rather than forsaking wisdom because it offers protection.
