Treasure Beyond a Price Tag

My dear son,

There is something more precious for your life than silver or gold: the wisdom to choose well and treat people rightly. As you gain things to hold in your hands, I also want your heart to grow deep.

Possessing something you want can bring pleasure, and the joy of discerning what is good can endure for years. Listening carefully and acknowledging your own mistakes are treasures no amount of money can purchase for you.

Alongside the things you need today, tell me what wisdom you want to learn. I want to help you see life more clearly and rightly. Let us gladly seek what can care for you through the years ahead.

With all my love,
Your Father

Proverbs 3:13–15

WEB

13Happy is the man who finds wisdom, the man who gets understanding.

14For her good profit is better than getting silver, and her return is better than fine gold.

15She is more precious than rubies. None of the things you can desire are to be compared to her.

A short reflection

Proverbs describes the blessing of gaining wisdom and understanding as greater than acquiring silver, gold, jewels, or other desired possessions.
