A Name You Can Call Anywhere
My dear son,
Before mountains rose and the earth was formed, I was God. I was a dwelling place for those who lived before you, and there is room beside me for you now. My love stretches beyond the length of one human life.
When the setting of your life changes, you can still call to me. Speak freely in a familiar room or an unfamiliar place. Wherever you are, I want you to have somewhere to return and rest your heart.
Begin today with me right where you stand. Take your time becoming familiar with new things. Give thanks for what you have long enjoyed, and ask for wisdom where you need it. My everlasting love holds you.
With all my love,
Your Father
Psalms 90:1–2
WEB1Lord, you have been our dwelling place for all generations.
2Before the mountains were born, before you had formed the earth and the world, even from everlasting to everlasting, you are God.
A short reflection
The psalmist confesses that God has been his people's dwelling place for generations and is eternally God, from before the creation of mountains and the world.
