Begin with a Little Gratitude
My dear son,
When something makes you happy today, tell me about it. If you remember someone you appreciate, speak their name in our conversation. You do not have to reserve time with your Father for special occasions.
You can call to me briefly in the middle of work or offer thanks over an ordinary meal. Prayer belongs in the middle of your life. I want to hear the stories of your everyday hours.
Whatever your circumstances, keep your heart turned toward me. Bring both your laughter and your questions. Enjoy the love you have received in Christ, and share this day with me in joy, prayer, and gratitude.
With all my love,
Your Father
