The Courage to Ask for a Straight Path

My dear son,

I want you to walk a truthful and safe path. Lies and violence can never take the place of what is right. If you encounter them, remember that enduring alone is not the only faithful response.

Ask me which way to go, and seek the help you need. Your life is precious. Together, let us look for a way to preserve truth and find protection, without answering another person's lies with lies of your own.

If today is peaceful, enjoy that peace with gratitude. You can always pray for me to teach you the right way. I want to care lovingly for your steps and for the voice with which you speak.

12Don’t deliver me over to the desire of my adversaries, for false witnesses have risen up against me, such as breathe out cruelty.

Facing false witnesses and the threat of violence, the psalmist asks the Lord for guidance and protection from the will of his enemies.
