Let Love Become Care

My dear son,

May your love for me become care for people. As Jesus asked Peter whether he loved him and entrusted him with feeding the sheep, a declaration of love can include a responsibility to care for someone.

Consider who is near you and needs care today. Listen first to what would help, and faithfully carry out your part. Give care suited to that person, with your attention on their needs.

Steady interest is as precious as a single large kindness. Keep your promises and make time to be present. Your Father welcomes your words of love and also delights in a life that nourishes and tends others through that love.

With all my love,
Your Father

WEB

15So when they had eaten their breakfast, Jesus said to Simon Peter, “Simon, son of Jonah, do you love me more than these?” He said to him, “Yes, Lord; you know that I have affection for you.” He said to him, “Feed my lambs.”

16He said to him again a second time, “Simon, son of Jonah, do you love me?” He said to him, “Yes, Lord; you know that I have affection for you.” He said to him, “Tend my sheep.”

17He said to him the third time, “Simon, son of Jonah, do you have affection for me?” Peter was grieved because he asked him the third time, “Do you have affection for me?” He said to him, “Lord, you know everything. You know that I have affection for you.” Jesus said to him, “Feed my sheep.
