Listen to the Whole Story
My dear son,
When someone speaks today, wait for the whole story. Hearing a little does not mean you already know the rest. Beyond the circumstances you can see, there may be something only that person can tell you.
A fast answer is not always a wise one. Ask thoughtful questions, and take time to understand before replying. Your Father values a desire to know people well more than an appearance of knowing everything.
Leave room for the possibility that your judgment is mistaken. A brief wait can spare someone an unnecessary wound. Listen attentively to at least one person's story today. That, too, is a way of loving.
With all my love,
Your Father
