Your Father Knows Your Limits

My dear son,

I want to tell you how your Father sees you today. I remember that you were formed from dust. I do not treat you as someone who can accomplish endlessly simply by deciding to try harder.

There are times to learn and times to rest. Ask me when you need help, and receive the hands extended to you. You do not have to hide weakness to receive my love. Like a parent caring for a child, I meet you with compassion.

Live today's responsibilities faithfully without driving your body and heart harshly. My mercy is freely offered as you honor and depend on me. Begin with the Father who knows your limits.

With all my love,
Your Father

Psalms 103:13–14

WEB

13Like a father has compassion on his children, so the LORD has compassion on those who fear him.

14For he knows how we are made. He remembers that we are dust.

A short reflection

The psalm describes God's compassion for those who fear him as a father's compassion for his children, remembering that they are dust.
