The Love That Comes Looking
My dear son,
I am a Father who looks for his lost children. Whatever names people may give you, my desire to find and save you does not grow weaker. I will not let someone else's judgment have the final word in your story.
People murmured when Jesus stayed with Zacchaeus, but the joy of salvation entered that house. A place opened for him to put wrongs right and begin living differently. Other people's disapproval did not close that door.
You, too, have this day to live within my love. Do not shut yourself inside your past; open your heart to me. As someone who has received mercy, welcome the opportunity for others to make a new beginning as well.
With all my love,
Your Father
Luke 19:9–10
WEB9Jesus said to him, “Today, salvation has come to this house, because he also is a son of Abraham.
10For the Son of Man came to seek and to save that which was lost.”
A short reflection
Jesus declares that salvation has come to Zacchaeus's house, calls him a son of Abraham, and says the Son of Man came to seek and save the lost.
