The Quiet Courage of Self-Control

My dear son,

Your heart does not need a loud voice to have strength. It takes courage to pause so you can speak calmly. I want you to grow into someone who recognizes a feeling and can choose how to act upon it.

A person who governs their own spirit is worth more than a warrior who captures a city. Keeping love in your heart matters more than defeating someone else. When anger comes, tell me honestly and ask for wisdom.

Care for your heart quietly tonight. The words that must be said can be spoken calmly. I want to teach you as a tender Father, helping you express yourself honestly and gently rather than hiding what is inside.

With all my love,
Your Father

Proverbs 16:32

WEB

32One who is slow to anger is better than the mighty; one who rules his spirit, than he who takes a city.

A short reflection

Proverbs values a person slow to anger above a warrior and someone who rules their spirit above one who conquers a city.
