There Is Still Time to Ask for Mercy

My dear son,

Do not close the door yourself by deciding it is already too late to speak to me. Call to me honestly from where you are today. Your Father is here, ready to hear the heart that turns toward him.

Jesus welcomed the plea for mercy made beside him on the cross. You, too, may ask for grace before putting your entire past in order. Acknowledge what is wrong, trust Jesus, and draw near.

Tell me what you can truthfully say today. Use the time you have for love and restoration. Hold the hope of life with me, and stay within your Father's mercy through this night.

With all my love,
Your Father

Luke 23:39–43

WEB

39One of the criminals who was hanged insulted him, saying, “If you are the Christ, save yourself and us!”

40But the other answered, and rebuking him said, “Don’t you even fear God, seeing you are under the same condemnation?

41And we indeed justly, for we receive the due reward for our deeds, but this man has done nothing wrong.”

42He said to Jesus, “Lord, remember me when you come into your Kingdom.”

43Jesus said to him, “Assuredly I tell you, today you will be with me in Paradise.”

A short reflection

When a criminal crucified beside Jesus asks to be remembered, Jesus promises that he will be with him in paradise.
