Love That Learns Mercy
My dear son,
Tonight, I want you to receive my mercy with tenderness. I hope you will come to know the freedom of giving love without counting only what may come back. I show goodness even to people who are ungrateful.
When someone treats you harshly, tell me first about your desire to repay them. Ask for wisdom so that the feeling does not decide every word and action. You can keep necessary distance and still refuse to return evil.
Ask your Father for help as you learn this difficult kind of love. If you offered even a little goodness today, let us rejoice together. Rest tonight, knowing I treasure your desire to reflect my mercy.
With all my love,
Your Father

A short reflection
