Share the Joy of Finding

My dear son,

A woman lit a lamp and searched her house carefully for one small coin. When she found it, she called her neighbors to rejoice with her. Jesus used that joy to describe what happens when one person returns to me.

Do not dismiss yourself as merely one person among so many. One person is never insignificant to me. I treasure your honest desire to turn around and come close again. Your return is a reason for joy.

As this day begins, tell me if you see something that needs setting right. If you hear of another person's new beginning, welcome it warmly. I love your willingness to rejoice with others.

With all my love,
Your Father

Luke 15:8–10

WEB

8“Or what woman, if she had ten drachma coins, if she lost one drachma coin, wouldn’t light a lamp, sweep the house, and seek diligently until she found it?

9When she has found it, she calls together her friends and neighbors, saying, ‘Rejoice with me, for I have found the drachma which I had lost!’

10Even so, I tell you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner repenting.”

A short reflection

Jesus compares the angels' joy over one repentant sinner to a woman who finds her lost coin and celebrates with her neighbors.
