Caring for Each Other's Trust

My dear son,

Treat carefully the heart of someone who trusts you enough to stay close. What they share freely is a confidence to protect, including when disagreement comes. Guard the trust that lets them feel secure beside you.

Do not become needlessly hostile by assuming you already know their intentions. If something troubles you, ask calmly and hear their explanation. Even the people closest to you need your honesty and gentleness.

Enjoy a reason to laugh together today, and speak sincerely about anything that needs discussion. I love seeing you choose the joy of mutual trust over any advantage you could gain by using another person's vulnerability against them.

With all my love,
Your Father
