Strength for Every Kind of Day

My dear son,

On days of plenty, enjoy what you have received and share it. On days of need, ask me for what is missing. You can depend on me in either circumstance. Do not let possessions become the ruler of your heart.

If you count only what you lack, you may overlook gifts already in your hands. Take time to notice them today. You can be grateful now and still prepare for a better tomorrow; you need not choose between the two.

Meet today's life with the strength Christ gives. Ask me for strength to live faithfully in your circumstances, even when you cannot change them as you wish. Share that life with your Father.

With all my love,
Your Father

Philippians 4:11–13

WEB

11Not that I speak because of lack, for I have learned in whatever state I am, to be content in it.

12I know how to be humbled, and I also know how to abound. In any and all circumstances I have learned the secret both to be filled and to be hungry, both to abound and to be in need.

13I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.

A short reflection

Paul describes learning contentment in both abundance and need through the strength Christ provides.
