Begin with My Word
My dear son,
As you care for your body this morning, nourish your heart with my word, too. Bread sustains your body, and my words sustain your life. Make room to listen among the tasks that will fill this day.
A good beginning does not depend on reading a great deal. Read even one verse slowly and ask what it means for your life. When immediate needs feel urgent, continue to value the way that pleases your Father.
As Jesus depended on my word in the wilderness, hold to it at today's moments of choice. Practice the love and honesty you learn. Care for both body and heart as you begin within your Father's teaching.
With all my love,
Your Father
Matthew 4:4

A short reflection
During his wilderness temptation, Jesus teaches that people live by God's word as well as by bread.
