Gather the Small Thank-Yous
My dear son,
Is there something from today you would like to thank me for? It does not have to be unusual. Tell your Father about an enjoyable meal, a friendly greeting, or any small, ordinary happiness.
Talking with me need not become a major undertaking. Call to me in your heart while you walk, give thanks in the middle of laughter, and ask when you need help. I want prayer and joy to flow through the life you already live.
Speak freely about whatever is in your heart tonight. You can share sorrow, too. As my child, you can seek me in every circumstance. Let a little gratitude accompany the close of this day.
With all my love,
Your Father
